2007 Engineering Outreach Mentor
Forrest Bao
“I chose Texas Tech because I liked the environment and met professors who shared my research interest.”
Major: Electrical Engineering/Computer Science
Hometown: Nanjing, China
Why I'm a mentor
Some of my favorite memories were playing with Lego robotics in high school. Here I was introduced to the basic concept of programming and obtained confidence about construction. I would like to introduce more kids to the field of science and engineering by teaching with Lego robotics.
What I'm working on
I'm currently working on a master's degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. in computer science. My research is about intelligence: neurology and artificial intelligence.
In electrical engineering, I'm studying brain behaviors using signed processing and pattern recognition. In my computer science research, I work on logic-based artificial intelligence to teach computers to plan and schedule jobs.
Why I like Texas Tech
I chose Texas Tech because I liked the environment and met professors who shared my research interests.
What I plan to do
I plan to pursue another Ph.D. in research because I love it. After that, I would like to find a faculty position in the university. Maybe I will start my own company if I have a smart, high-tech idea that can make money.
