Major: Industrial Engineering

Hometown: Rowlett, Texas

Why I'm a mentor

I think it only takes one memorable experience to change a child's view of what they want to become.

I want to help prepare kids for engineering because most children don't know what an engineer is until high school. I want to make kids more aware of engineering fields so that our country can make the most out of the next generation of students.

What I'm working on

Industrial engineering students typically get a mix of business and engineering. We take classes in ergonomics, manufacturing, distribution, operations and quality control.

My interests are in manufacturing and supply chain management. I want to get raw materials turned into marketable products as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I'm also the treasurer of the student chapter of the Institute for Industrial Engineers. As an organization we network with other industrial engineering professionals and take field trips to visit plants where industrial engineers work.

Why I like Texas Tech

I picked Texas Tech because I felt the faculty were both helpful and friendly toward their students.

Engineering is better at Texas Tech because classes are smaller and you get a more personal education than you might at other schools.

Texas Tech prepares you for life after graduation.

What I plan to do

I want to go work for some sort of manufacturing company and continue my education by either obtaining a master's degree in engineering or an M.B.A. in Supply Chain Management.

One day I would like to either teach or have my own business.
