Major: Mechanical Engineering

Hometown: Mount Vernon, Washington

Why I'm a mentor

I had people in my life who were positive role models for me; who encouraged me to treat others with respect at all times; who spurred me on to go to school and pursue my goals. I benefited greatly from those people, and I want to be that kind of person for younger students.

What I'm working on

As a mechanical engineer, I take a lot of classes in areas like thermodynamics, mechanics, materials, dynamics and design — basically learning how things work at a physical level. I'm currently taking Failure Analysis, Engineering Design I, Thermal-fluid Systems Lab, Control of Dynamic Systems, and Spanish.

Why I like Texas Tech

My family moved from Mount Vernon, Washington, to Amarillo, Texas, after I graduated from high school. I knew that I wanted to pursue mechanical engineering, so I chose to attend Texas Tech because of its location and reputable engineering program.

What I plan to do

After I graduate in May, my fiancee and I are going to get married. Then, I plan on joining the engineering workforce out in industry.
