Why I'm a mentor

When I was younger — about third grade — I had a mentor. He helped me out with reading and would show me how to draw cartoon characters. Even though I was being mentored because I had trouble reading, it felt good to have someone interested in me — and it helped my reading. So I just want to spread the good vibes. Someone helped me out, so now it's time for me to do the same.

What I'm working on

I'm a mechanical engineering major, so I deal with moving parts and stuff of that nature. I do a lot of math and physics, but it's not too bad. It kind of makes me feel smart knowing that I know more than the average person.

Why I like Texas Tech

When I went to talk to my high school counselor and told her that I wanted to go to college, she asked me what I wanted to study. I didn't know, but I knew I liked working with cars and stuff that moved. Right away, my counselor suggested that I try mechanical engineering. Once I had decide that, she recommended that I go to Texas Tech, too. She was right on both counts.

What I plan to do

I might go to Japan and teach English for a year or two, or I might join the Peace Corps. Then again, I might just get a mechanical engineering job after I graduate — I don't know, yet.
