Why I'm a mentor
Giving back to the community by helping young people is always important. I believe that it is vital for kids to know that they are important and can accomplish anything they put their minds to.
Most of my success comes from having positive influences throughout my life. I would like to be that positive influence for someone else.
What I'm working on
My major is electrical engineering, and basically we analyze and build electrical circuits. Math skills are important for an electrical engineering, and most of the courses I take have something to do with math.
I'm the Pre-College Initiative chair of the Texas Tech chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, and I work with high school students and encourage them to attend college in the future.
I'm also involved with the Black Students Association and Mentor-Tech. Mentor-Tech works with first-time Texas Tech students and minority students.
Why I like Texas Tech
Texas Tech University's engineering programs help you gain experience — like the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering's project labs that get students involved with hands-on activities.
Texas Tech prepares you for life after graduation.
What I plan to do
After graduating, I plan to get my master's degree from Texas Tech.
The most interesting research I've worked with is micro-electrical mechanical systems, but I also have an interest in railroad technology. Most of all I want to know more about all the possible things I can do with an electrical engineering degree.
