Major: Electrical Engineering

Hometown: Kerala, India

Why I'm a mentor

I've volunteered with the Center for Engineering Outreach during the past year and enjoyed it a lot. Also, I feel a need to give something back to society.

What I'm working on

I wanted to be an electrical engineer because I've loved that sort of thing since I was a kid.

As an electrical engineer, I work a lot with electronics and electrical components. By studying electrical components and understanding how they work, you can design circuits that do different things — like control how a robot moves.

Right now, I'm taking senior-level classes which deal with the math side of electrical engineering. I'm also taking a hands-on project lab and a class on electromagnetic waves.

My research interests are in nano-technology, and I'm actively involved with IEEE — a professional organization for electrical engineers.

Why I like Texas Tech

I chose Texas Tech because of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and its project lab program. The department's project labs give students a better, hands-on experience.

What I plan to do

After I graduate with my bachelor's degree, I want to pursue my master's degree. After I get my master's degree, I want to work with a semi-conductor company.

I want to get my master's degree in nano-technology. Nano-technology is a new research area where industry is spending a lot of research and development money. Nano-technology deals with shrinking electronic components to a much smaller size — smaller than a human hair.
